The Administration OfficeThink they need a new plaque! Not far from the main gate is this wonderful old Oak TreeThe bluebells are out in force... all shades of blue, pink and whiteWith a London Plane on the left, and the gravestones on the right, this carpet of bluebells is flourishing.Closeup of a bluebellA pinkbell?A dying daffodil in a cemetery! This headstone caught my imagination. Dedicated to the memory of a fellow of the Institute of Journalists, I love that Mother Nature is pushing her bluebells through the bookFurther coverage of the bluebell carpetBluebells with pink primroses behind...This shot captures the mixture of dark and light, new and old, death and life - the dark of the foreboding tress and bushes in the foreground and the light of the sun which shone through for a brief moment; the new (ish) grave in contrast with the older headstones and the new life of the bluebells growing among the dead.I love the straight lines leading up to the chapel in contrast with the confusion of branches of the treesA fallen tree provides interest amongst the stonesA angel gazes down on the cherry blossomsDetail of the cherry blossomThis huge tree stands proudly amongst the stonesTrying to capture the shadows cast by the London Planes during the brief appearance of the sunAll 3 shades of bluebellSome headstones are enormous edificesReally like the design of this Church (one of 4 main buildings in the Cemetery)The modern quarter. I think there is definitely something less appealing about the modern headstones.Really loving the contrast between the majesty of this tree set against the headstones. The modern headstone to the far right gives an idea of the scale.Lovely little building - this is actually the ladies loo! This is in fact 4 trees growing in close proximity. The ChapelThe modern design surrounding the modern CrematoriumThe pond next to the CrematoriumThis headstone is over the top - literally, but also a fabulous piece of architecture.A hidden gem yet to be unveiled? Certainly got my imagination running....
